Powerful Columbia brandishes her sword above Middle Eastern refugees to protect them from harm. In heavy fighting, the Allies vanquished the Turks at Beersheba (Oct. 1917) Jerusalem (December 1917) and Baghdad (March 1918). These battles displaced millions.
